Irbis TW81 is a $79 USD 8-inch Windows tablet

·   0

Although it only has 1 GB of memory, this MegaFon-exclusive slate is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor and has a single SIM slot with 3G support.

Russia is a big emerging market and seeing low-end devices with a few attractive highlights does not come as a surprise. Such a device is the Irbis TW81 tablet, a Windows-driven slate that is backed by MegaFon, a local carrier.
MegaFon Irbis TW81 has the following specs and features:
  • Processor: Intel Atom Z3735G
  • Memory/Storage: 1 GB RAM; 16 GB internal storage and microSD support up to 32 GB
  • Display: 8-inch WXGA multitouch with 1,280X800 pixels
  • Cameras: 0.3 MP front, 2 MP back
  • Connectivity: dual-SIM, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, micro USB 2.0
  • Operating system: Windows 10
  • Weight: 0.84 pounds
  • Battery: 4200 mAh lithium-ion
Although its specs are rather weak, this slate apparently runs the desktop version of Windows 10, since it includes virtual desktops, OneDrive, or Microsoft Edge. Irbis TW81 has support only for 2G and 3G networks, but considering its $79 USD price tag, the lack of 4G LTE connectivity is not surprising at all.
Since Irbis TW81 is exclusively available in Russia via MegaFon, it will probably stay on that market. However, there are quite a few similar slates available for purchase from various online stores with a global reach and it is  good to know that low-end Windows 10 slates have become so affordable.
