The 12.5-inch business notebook will have support for Acer's external Graphics Dock via its USB Type-C Gen. 2 port with prices starting at about 1300 Euros.
Announced late last November and then shown off at CES 2016, the Acer Switch 12 S Pro is finally launching next month for 1300 Euros with Skylake Core-M options. The 2-in-1 convertible comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Pro and includes an Active Stylus Pen.
The Switch 12 S Pro will carry the same design as the current Switch 12 S. Thus, the Pro version will use the same magnetic dock for easy attaching and detaching between the display and its base. Overall, users have four different usage modes: Notebook, Tablet, Stand, and Display.
First SKUs include the Switch SW7-272P with the item number NT.LB8EG.003, which will be equipped with 4 GB RAM, a 128 GB SSD, and a dual-core Intel Core m3-6Y30 SoC. A second SKU with the item number NT.LB8EG.004 will double the RAM and storage and will house an even faster Core m5-6Y54 SoC.
For stationary or desk use, the Switch 12 S Pro will be compatible with the new Acer Graphics Dock for external GPU (eGPU) support. The eGPU solution can be configured with up to aGeForce GTX 960M and includes numerous extra connectivity ports. The dock is made possible by the USB Type-C/Thunderbolt 3 port on the convertible similar to the Razer eGPU solution with the latest Blade Stealth notebook.
